Whyalla City Council are collecting community stories to bring their Foreshore Water Park and Community Plaza to life.
Mayor Phill Stone says the community’s input is vital to the success of the project.
“This is part of our submission to get funding, Mayor Stone says.
“We’ve actually reached stage one… the source of funding that we’re targeting has been oversubscribed – there are more organisations and more councils putting in for projects than there’s money available.”
The last upgrade was over 40 years ago.
“Back in the mid-80s we actually did have a foreshore upgrade, and the new upgrade was opened by the late Queen.
“So, we’ve already had upgrades, but like everything, as time goes on you need to further upgrade and listen to what the community’s after.”
