Osprey preservation reaches new heights on the Yorke Peninsula

Support and awareness for the endangered Osprey is soaring on the Spencer Gulf.

Four new nesting towers will be built by a group of craftsmen from the Ardrossan Community and Men’s Shed, in addition to the 11 that are already established or under construction.

The effort comes as part of the Osprey Recovery Program, which began when numbers fell to as little as 50 breeding pairs in South Australia a few years ago.

The 7.5 m and 8.5 m towers are scattered across the Yorke Peninsula and cost up to $30,000 each to build and chopper into place.
