More is being done to combat social isolation in South Australia.
The State Government is boosting support for community centres with $1.5 million in grants on offer across SA.
Human Services Minister Nat Cook says it’s a great initiative.
“At the moment, we fund dozens of community centres in an ongoing way right across South Australia to deliver these excellent programs, but… not all community centres are able to access funding,” Minister Cook says.
Sixty-six centres across the state are currently supported by the DHS, including Community House Port Lincoln, Whyalla Community Centre, Peterborough Community Centre, Port Pirie Community Centre, and Southern Yorke Peninsula Community Hub.
The Department estimates there’s still 70 more that could benefit from funding.
