It’s both National Road Safety week and Volunteer week – with CFS, SES and other first responders being commended for their commitment to the community.
Often first on the scene to road crashes and emergencies, country crews the ones tasked with extracting victims from road crashes.
The SES is urging motorists to keep vehicles maintained, check seatbelts and child restraints before taking off and to stay alert but calm while driving.
This comes of the back of some very sobering stats when it comes to our national road toll data from the Australian Automobile Association shows it’s risen about 10-per-cent since 2021.
The stats have prompted calls for the federal government to do more.
