A new Forestry Master Plan has identified three goals for the industry, including workforce, resources and decarbonisation.
Local forests and logging companies could be set to benefit from the plan – the ‘South Australian Wood Fibre and Timber Industry Master Plan’ released late last week.
Minister for Forest Industries Clare Scriven says $70,000 has been put towards the creation of a ‘State of the Industry Report’.
“We’ve been working through development of a master plan for the forestry industry, Minister Scriven says.
“It’s a $1.4 billion industry for our state and it’s got a lot of new innovation and it’s got a lot to contribute in terms of decarbonising our economy.
“We’ve been working with industry to develop this so that we can really look at what is needed for the future.”
Local forests such as Wirrabara and Bundaleer are set to benefit.
