A man has been charged after allegedly returning a positive breath test for alcohol nearly five times the legal limit.
Police pulled the vehicle over on Swift Street at around 1:30am on Sunday.
Following a driver test, a 53-year-old Port Pirie West man recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.249.
Before being placed in the police vehicle, the man allegedly hindered police when officers searched him.
Police checks revealed the man had already been disqualified from driving.
He was arrested and charged with drink driving, drive disqualified and hinder police. He was bailed to appear in the Port Pirie Magistrates Court on 16 December.
He was also issued with a further 12-month instant loss of licence and his car was impounded for 28 days.
