A Riverland man was rescued from the bottom of an opal mine in Coober Pedy on Saturday night, 13 January, after being reported missing on Friday.
He spent 24 hours at the bottom of the 27-metre mine shaft before being found.
He’s now recovering in hospital after receiving treatment for a dislocated shoulder, broken leg and severe dehydration.

SES State Duty Officer Vincent Scully says it was a complex rescue.
“[There were] sixteen people involved in the rescue across four agencies, Mr Scully says.
“The rescue team worked for just over three hours to complete the rescue.”
It’s not yet known how the accident happened.
