Drug drivers are in for a reality check, with a new drug safety campaign hitting our screens soon.
In the works for a year, the new campaign will show the consequences of drug driving as part of the State Government’s $11 million annual commitment to road safety education.
Traffic Services Branch Officer in Charge, Superintendent Darren Fielke, says 5,361 drivers were detected drug driving in 2023, and it was a factor in 95 serious road injuries and 22 lives lost.
“[The advert’s] appearance on TV, radio, billboards and through social platforms, will motivate people who think that they can drug drive on South Australian roads to change their mind, to change their decisions, to act more responsibly,” Superintendent Fielke says.
The campaign will be launched in mid-2024.
