Port Augusta Council Taken To Court

A local council is involved in a bitter legal dispute with two property owners…

Port Augusta City Council CEO, John Banks, issuing a statement on the matter ahead of the case going before the courts yesterday.

We’re told the fight with Trevor Robertson and Kendall Jones has been underway for a number of years and follows their refusal to pay rates on properties they previously owned.

It’s alleged, despite several requests for payment, they failed to comply and so council sold the properties at public auctions last year.

Mr Robertson has now reportedly begun a private prosecution against council in the Magistrates Court, charging them with one count of stalking and 47 counts of dishonestly dealing with property.

Council has rejected all the allegations.
