A proposed $750 million green hydrogen plant has been quietly axed in Port Pirie.
Global commodities company Trafigura had planned to build the world’s largest hydrogen electrolyser facility, which was set to open this year.
However, the developers have opted not to proceed, citing construction costs and a stunted interest from buyers as playing a role in the decision.

The facility’s cancellation has added to the string of projects that have failed to move beyond the feasibility stage.
This comes days after Prime Minister Anthony Albanese pledged the clean-energy source would be involved in the Future Made in Australia plan.
