On the heels of last weeks focus on Whyallas Hydrogen insudtry, Premier Peter Malinauskas has announced a new Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Act for the state.
The Act aims to reduce bureaucracy and streamline processes for companies looking to invest in large-scale renewable energy projects.
Currently, several acts cover renewable energy projects, but the new Act will establish a single regulatory process covering the entire project lifecycle.
The Act will also consider First Nations people’s rights and interests throughout the regulatory processes.
The government hopes that the new Act will reduce risk for investors and facilitate a fair transition towards renewable energy.
