Small town, big plans

An innovative plan is in the works for Port Wakefield Road, as SA developers plan a 500-hectare green economy precinct and housing estate in the 200-person town of Dublin.

This would see 1,300 new homes built and a population boost, with the town tipped to hit 3,250 people.

The plan also includes a bioreactor to power the whole area, while vertical farms in glasshouses would be able to feed residents.

Planning Minister Nick Champion says these sorts of precincts would help reduce waste and create jobs.
