Small walls make a big splash in Whyalla

Residents will see more pops of colour in Whyalla as artists take their brushes to nine walls around the Steel City.

The Small Walls Mural project has been in the works for a couple of years, and Mayor Phill Stone says he’s excited to see it progress.

“They are not only a great way to showcase local and regional talent, but also to brighten up some plain walls and bring some much-needed life, colour and energy to these areas,” Mayor Stone says.

One of the artworks depicts an Aussie version of Alice in Wonderland, featuring local flora and fauna.

The areas being transformed include:

  • Toilet block wall beside the Whyalla Yacht Club
  • RSL front wall on Essington Lewis Avenue
  • Wetlands BBQ Shelter
  • Smokey’s Uppercuts on Gowrie Avenue
  • McLeods wall on Playford Avenue
  • Beach wall walkway near playground
  • Beach walkway wall (on the stairs to the sand)
  • Wilson Park BBQ Rotunda
  • Main Street alley way
