A 26-year-old Port Pirie West woman was taken for a medical assessment in the early hours of Sunday morning after an altercation with police.
Authorities attended her home to check her welfare with concerns she may be suffering a suspected mental health episode on Saturday, 18 May, just before 6pm.
She was armed with a machete and police negotiated with her for several hours before the incident resolved around 1am and the woman was detained.

Police are investigating if there is any criminal offences associated with the incident.
