Adam Spencer, a 40-year-old from Nottinghamshire UK, found himself in a heap of trouble after stealing 17 tubes of Pringles and committing several other thefts. When caught by the police, he cheekily quoted the snack’s famous slogan, saying, “Once you pop, you can’t stop!”
Spencer was nabbed by officers after they identified him as a suspect. He quickly fessed up to his crimes and was charged with two counts of burglary and three counts of theft.
The crime spree began on April 11 at a local Tesco, followed by an incident at an Asda on April 17. On May 2, Spencer broke into an Iceland store, stealing meat products and returning two hours later to take goods worth over £300 (about AUD 570). He targeted the same store again on May 19.
During one of these escapades, Spencer decided to help himself to 17 tubes of Pringles. When the police questioned him, he couldn’t resist referencing the iconic slogan, “Once you pop, you can’t stop.”
Appearing in Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, Spencer pleaded guilty to all charges. The court handed him a six-month prison sentence, which was suspended for a year. Additionally, he was ordered to pay £200 (about AUD 380) in compensation and complete a six-month drug rehabilitation program.
Hopefully, his time in the rehab program will help him pop out of this sticky situation for good.
